Introduction
The NYC Arts in Education Roundtable
The NYC Arts in Education Roundtable is a member-driven organization for arts in education professionals who collaboratively provide and participate in high quality professional development programs for the arts in education community. The Roundtable is the only organization exclusively dedicated to provided networking, skills building, and best practice sharing for arts educators in New York. Currently, there are 970 members, including 106 organizations. The Roundtable’s programs are
rooted in the need for high quality arts education programs. Our goal is to assist arts educators to do their best work, helping students succeed in and through the arts. The Roundtable’s primary activities include our annual two-day Face to Face arts in education conference and monthly professional
development programs.
The only event of its kind in NYC and the largest in the state, Face to Face is a professional development conference for arts administrators, teaching artists, and others interested in the field of arts in education. Face to Face is held over two days in April at The City College of New York, Shepard Hall.The conference strives to demonstrate effective teaching and learning strategies for practitioners in the field of arts in education, as well as to provide forums for discussion of other critical issues such as policy and advocacy, assessment, fundraising, and organizational management. The conference encompasses approximately 35 break-out sessions, keynotes, a plenary session, and two networking events.

Upstate Outreach Project
With the support of the New York State Council on the Arts, the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable is offering 26 subsidies to qualified upstate and Long Island arts educators to attend Face to Face 2017.
Each subsidy includes the following:
•$200 travel subsidy from a New York State location to NYC
•$200 accommodation subsidy
•$75 registration subsidy. (Registration rates range from $120 to $160 depending on member status and date or registration. Registration opens in mid-February 2017).
Recipients must commit to attending the entire two-day conference, April 12 from 8:30AM – 5:30PM; April 13 from 8:30AM – 4:15PM
Application Process
Eligible applicants must submit the application form, proof of address, and resumé by 11:59 PM on
December 16, 2016.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of arts education professionals based in upstate New York.

 

PROGRAM CRITERIA
Successful applicants will:
•Provide arts education programs to New York State students in the public schools, at community-based organizations, or in after-school spaces outside of the five boroughs of New York City, including one of the following:
  • Arts education administrators at New York State arts organizationsTeaching artist working with an arts organization or independently in New York State.
  • Teaching artist working with an arts organization or independently in New York State.
  • (Please note that arts teachers or administrators on the permanent staffs of NYS public
  • schools are welcome to attend, but we regret they are not eligible for this program.)
  • Reside/be based in New York State outside of the five boroughs of New York City
  • Be able to articulate specific professional outcomes for participation in Face to Face 2017
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to his/her own professional development
Limitations:
Organizations may apply for a maximum of two (2) participants.
If applying as part of an organization, applicants must confirm their application with the organization before applying. That organization must be based in NY State.
Individual applicants must be based in NY State.
In order to be considered, applications must be submitted by December 16, 2016 via the online form.
Resume and proof of residency in NY State must be e-mailed to NYCAF2Fapplications@nycaieroundtable.org with your name and “NYSCA Regrants” in the subject.
A complete application includes the online application form, proof or residency, and resumé.
Applications received after the December 16, 2016 (11:59 PM) deadline will not be considered. No exceptions
