Creative Writing Instructor (On-site – Memoir, Screenwriting, Fiction)

Seeking passionate and experienced creative writing instructors to teach creative writing courses to aspiring writers who are looking to cultivate their craft. Candidates should teaching experience and have an exemplary background in teaching adult workshops in the specific discipline they would like to fill. Please send 3 references with cover letter and a syllabus to apply for a position.

African Voices, a non-profit arts organization, is currently expanding a successful workshop series that has been in existence for more than 20 years. The organization provides on-site creative writing workshops to professional writers.


Must have at least five years experience teaching in the discipline you are seeking to fill. Candidates with M.A. and B.A. in Creative Writing and Fine Arts are welcomed. Candidates with a love for teaching and sharing knowledge are encouraged to apply. Demonstrate ability to teach beyond the basics and inspire writers to explore uncharted territory in their work and strengthen character development. Ideal candidate will have a balanced resume detailing accomplishments in the field as a writer (i.e. books published, screenplays in development, etc.). Great position for a working artist wishing to supplement his/her/they professional career. Hours will be flexible with workshops taking place at our Brooklyn office and partnership locations in NYC.
