About Our Organization

We are a small public High School in the Washington Heights neighborhood of upper Manhattan.  We primarily serve students of color – many from recent newcomer families and homes.  A large percentage of our students are English Language Learners and Students with IEPs.  Our students are creative thinkers and creators.  They are musical, visual, fashionable – digitally and traditionally artistic.

Job Position Summary

We are seeking a creative instructor to spearhead our Art Department and create creative and artistic spaces for young people.

This position is excellent for someone who wants to be a part of growing and vibrant community of energetic and progressive educators who are committed to the artistic and academic growth of our students.

  • Full Time Art Teacher
  • Must be NYS Licensed
  • Experienced in Visual and or Digital Arts
  • Experience in Urban Communities and Populations
  • Strong Desire to Collaborate w/ Like Minded, Progressive Educators

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Plan and Execute Units and Lessons of Study
  • Plan, Organize, and Implement hand-on Art Projects
  • Manage and Supervise Materials and Students
  • Teach Students about the History of Art and Art skills and techniques
  • Incorporate Culturally Responsive Art instruction into units and lessons
  • Demonstrate student art
