We are seeking a talented and passionate Violin Teaching Artist to join our team and contribute to our mission of fostering a love for the arts.
Job Position Summary
The Violin Teaching Artist will provide high-quality violin instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels in a NYC public school setting. This role requires a deep understanding of violin technique and pedagogy, as well as the ability to inspire and motivate students. The ideal candidate will be a skilled performer and educator, capable of creating engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to individual student needs. We are specifically looking for a teaching artist for a NYC public middle school in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Instruction: Teach private and group violin lessons, focusing on technique, musicality, and performance skills.
- Curriculum Development: Design and implement lesson plans that align with students’ goals and abilities, incorporating a variety of musical styles and genres.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
- Performance Opportunities: Prepare students for performance opportunities.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with students and their families, addressing any concerns and celebrating achievements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other teaching artists and staff to enhance the overall program and contribute to organizational events.
- Professional Development: Stay current with violin pedagogy and trends in music education, and actively seek opportunities for professional growth.
