About Our Organization

Envision Theater is an educational theater company serving students in North Jersey, Long Island (5 Towns area) and Philadelphia. We partner with schools to develop original collaborative in-school residences, run after school performing arts programs, drama clubs, elective classes (filmmaking, stage makeup, public speaking) and full-scale productions with students in grades k-12. We also produce Envision Shakespeare, an annual HS Shakespeare competition and festival. 

Job Position Summary

We are seeking experienced, enthusiastic, caring, and organized teaching artists with expertise in the following disciplines: teaching theater, filmmaking, directing plays and musicals, choreography, musical direction,  stage makeup, set design and scenery painting. Residencies may range from 8-10 weeks to one semester or longer. Reliable transportation is important as many of the school sites are not accessible with public transportation.

Roles & Responsibilities

Teaching artists will create and implement weekly lesson plans in line with the theme of the residency. They will have excellent communication skills and use them to connect with collaborating teaching artists, Envision Theater staff, classroom teachers and principals, when applicable. Excellent candidates will be have experience teaching their art form or directing students between 1-12th grades for at least 2 years.
