Stage the Change (STC) in it’s 10th Anniversary Year – Our programming is geared to help students become global citizens through creativity and performance. Through conferences, workshops, panel discussions, STC provides communities with inspirational original performances that serve as a catalyst for change. We enable young artists to use their “arts voices” to make a difference in their world through theatre, dance, film and the arts.
Each year STC hosts a conference, which serves approximately 800 – 1,000 students from more than 30 high schools. Tbe day includes 15 to 20 innovative workshops which serve to inspire high school students to create socially minded work.
Job Position Summary
STC is looking for Teaching Artists to present interactive workshops at their at their yearly conference on November 3rd. Each workshop is 75 minutes and is presented twice.
All proposals must connect to STC’s mission:
“To empower students to become global citizens through creativity and performance;
To provide communities with inspirational, original performances which serve as a catalyst for change.”
Proposal topics should include a description of how high school students can engage in a theater, dance or film workshop which inspires them to address social justice issues. Workshops may include playwriting, choreography, composition, film, use of technology, mindfulness, Boal work, social-emotional learning, or other approaches/methods which empower students to create original theatre/film/dance around social justice. All sessions should be interactive, rooted in art-making, and should provide students with a safe space to voice their opinions and create freely.
Workshops are 75 minutes long and are presented twice during the conference day.
A stipend is provided for workshop facilitators.
