CEI MERIDIAN program is a five-year, professional learning program for teachers of K-5 self-contained classrooms of students with disabilities. CEI MERIDIAN utilizes an innovative arts integration approach, aligned with standards and skills, that incorporates six levels of differentiated instruction and utilizes VISUAL ART and MUSIC as effective instructional strategies to directly teach English Language Arts (literacy) and mathematics while strengthening social-emotional learning (SEL) skills.
Job Position Summary
CEI Arts Education is looking for Music and Visual Art Teaching Artists (part-time employees) to work in a program that meets over Zoom exclusively. The program meets primarily on Mondays from January- June 2025 on Zoom.
Seeking candidates with experience leading professional development with classroom teachers, working with elementary school students with disabilities in self-contained, and teaching literacy or math through either visual art or music.
Roles & Responsibilities
Teaching artists will be part of a team that meets regularly for staff trainings. They will be responsible for learning differentiated arts-integrated projects, leading professional learning workshops with classroom teachers, and supporting teachers’ work with their students. Candidates should have strong communication skills and respond to paperwork in a timely manner.
- Minimum of years’ experience working as a teaching artist/arts educator
- BA or MA
- Experience leading professional learning workshops with teachers (virtually)
- Experience teaching in a public school setting (preferably NYCDOE)
- Experience working with self-contained classrooms of students with disabilities (preferably NYC District 75)
- Availability on Mondays
- Experience creating and teaching arts-integrated lessons that teach academic content
- Proficient in all Google Suite applications (Drive, Docs, Sheets.)
- Excellent communication skills
