Decide2Differ, the creative arts division of Decidedly Different Events (MWBE), a full-service event production company in New York City, produces and manages high caliber art programs in NYC public schools. Simply put, we’ve crafted the art of packaging our in-house events into one-0of-a-kind art centric program-based services.

Our after school and intraday programming features lessons in fine art, and arts and craft activities that are ‘decidedly different’. Each project produced by program participants is featured in showcases produced by Decidedly Different Events throughout the year.

Job Position Summary

Decidedly Different Events (DDE) is seeking a part-time Assistant Art Director for an after-school program for the 2023-2024 school calendar year. The Teaching Artist Assistant will report to and work closely with one of the program’s Teaching Artists. Primary responsibilities include supporting the Teaching Artist with daily activities, including facilitating art project initiatives for children enrolled in the program.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Attend program daily, Monday through Friday. Must be on school site during program hours, approximately 3pm-6pm (M, T, Th, F) / 12pm-4pm (W)
  • Assist Teaching Artists with daily routines, from program start to dismissal
  • Assist in the development / facilitation of daily art projects
  • Prep program space for daily activities; set up workstations, distribute materials, etc.
  • Oversee program cleaning initiatives (discard unused project tools, sanitize workstations, etc.) and guide staff and program participants into daily cleaning regimens
  • Supply stock (art & cleaning materials) to the program area
  • Distribution of (cold) snacks to program attendees
  • Take daily attendance and crosscheck attendance sheets with daily dismissal / pick up intel
  • Deliver accurate attendance list to head of security for dismissal / pick up purposes
  • Ability to observe student behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and respond in a fitting manner
  • Enforce safety guidelines for all projects and oversee associated safety protocols for all participants
  • Follow and enforce latest CDC guidelines as pertaining to COVID-19 (social distancing, mask wearing, etc.) for staff and program participants
  • Assist in drafting in-program incident reports
  • Assist in drafting in-program incident reports
