About Our Organization
GlobalArts to Go is a NYC based multicultural arts -education, enrichment and entertainment organization. Since 2006, our growing team of multicultural Teaching Artists have been providing weekly arts residencies, classes, afterschool enrichment clubs and interactive assembly events to NYC public schools, after schools, community based organizations and summer camps. We believe in the power of the Arts to engage, entertain, educate and elevate children’s lives in positive, fun ways. We want to support children in being curious, creative, confident while encouraging their learning and growth physically, social-emotionally, intellectually and creatively. Our team is made up of masterful, talented, kind, inspiring, positive energy bearing and highly experienced independent contractors.
Job Position Summary
GlobalArts to Go is growing and seeking more Teaching Artists to join our team to lead preK – 8th grade (4 – 12 year old youth) in global arts-education programming in NYC public schools, after-schools and community centers. We are seeking specialists in the following area:
- Arts/Crafts,
- STEM thru the Arts
Qualified candidates should have at least 5 years or more proven experience teaching 5 – 12 year old youth in diverse settings with diverse learning needs and diverse learning levels. Must have qualifications = Flexible schedule to travel to different boroughs between either 9am – 1pm and / or 2:30pm – 6pm for youth programming and assembly events. Please note – The majority of the open freelance jobs are for after school programs in the later after noon time frames. Strong group management skills, inclusive teaching practices, patience, creative thinking, flexibility, good communication skills, well prepared and organized, reliable, encouraging attitude and positive energy. A “people” person who believes in the power of the Arts to change kids lives for the better. Our team likes to make learning and growth fun for kids. Must be willing to get NYC DOE and OCFS fingerprinted (or already have them) and fulfill any required background and health screenings as mandated by certain clients and sites.
Roles & Responsibilities
Teaching Artists are independent contractors who are booked to do interactive assembly programs and / or weekly arts residencies and enrichment activities with youth ages 4 – 12. Roles and Responsibilities include = creative lesson planning, facilitating and lead teaching activities, sharing feedback and encouraging tips to support children in their learning, creative skill-building and growth. Each class you lead teach will have between 15 – 25 students on average with at least 1 or more staff assistant to support you.
