Northern Stage is a professional theater company in the heart of the Upper Valley of Vermont. The mission of BridgeUP: Theater in the Schools is to increase theater access and learning resources for 4th – 6th grade students throughout Vermont and New Hampshire through programs that bring artists into the classroom, support the curricular needs of underserved schools, and introduce young people to theater through low‐cost access to professional productions.

BridgeUP: Theater in the Schools Teaching Artist
DEPARTMENT: Education
Northern Stage in White River Junction, VT seeks knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and playful individuals to serve as Teaching Artists in our BridgeUP: Theater in the Schools Program for Spring 2023. This Program serves 4th-6th grade students in New Hampshire and Vermont public schools, and consists of an 8 week in-person residency where teaching artists introduce, cast, and rehearse a 30 minute cut of a Shakespeare play with the students. This culminates in a performance at both the schools and at Northern Stage. All curriculum is provided for you and professional development workshops will be offered to add tools to your teaching artist tool belt.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree or at least 2 years experience in theater performance/production or arts education
- Enthusiasm for working with children
- Ability to work as part of a teaching team of two
- Ability to maintain grace under pressure and to keep up a positive attitude
- Valid driver’s license preferred
Contract Dates: 03/17/23 – 05/14/23
Compensation: $500/week. Housing and transportation also included
Job Type: Part Time for 8 weeks

Roles & Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Attend all Teaching Artist trainings – these are held weekly on Fridays from 3:30-5:30
- Teach in 2 schools for approximately 4 – 5 hours a week each
- Collaborate and organize casting, logistics, and preparations with your teaching partner outside of teaching hours
