Mainstages, LLC is an educational theater company for children located in Astoria, Queens. Wherever there is an opportunity to foster our core values of Connection, Character, Improvisation and Imagination in kids, we’re there.

There are two chief components to the work that we do; programming, where adult Teaching Artists and Directors teach kids and kids perform, and performances where adult performers travel across the country performing shows with children as the audience. No matter what we do, our content is always highly interactive and engaging, with a focus on the core values that are most important to children. Mainstages strives to create a safe, equitable and inclusive environment for both our staff and kids so everyone feels empowered to explore, play and be their authentic selves. We aim to “drop the mic” in our work; using entertainment to frame important life lessons for children grades pre-k through high school.

Seasonal Full-Time Sleepaway Camp Theater Directors:

Emma Kaufmann Camp, located in Morganstown, West Virginia, is a beautiful massive camp set on a lake with high-end facilities and programming. The camp has an incredible culture built on many returning campers and staff, which means that the ability to adapt to a new setting is an important trait for this position. The camp is supportive and flexible as to program objectives and what types of shows are done, which gives a lot of autonomy to the person leading the program. In addition to theater activities and specialty club periods where the children rehearse for a production, staff members will be asked to participate actively in general elements of the camp from color war to field trips and more.

Time Commitment:
6/10/2023- 8/6/2023. 6/18/23 First Session Camper Arrival
First Session: Annie Jr. – Production
Second Session: Triple Threat Academy – Showcase

PAY:
Salary range $3,700; housing and all meals included for sleepaway camps.

Electives: participants opt in for the session.

All Camp Play: (3) Set times per week in the evening. Last activity block 50 minutes in length.

Activity periods. 50 minutes, 7 per day.

Sample Schedule: Breakfast, 3 activities AM, rest hour, 3 activities PM, dinner, 1 activity period after dinner.
