Job Position Summary

We are looking for a Teaching Artist interested in directing a two-week Specialty Production Camp of Beauty and The Beast Jr. Theater Director must be willing and able to self-report to Glen Head, Long Island. This opportunity is a seasonal full-time position (8:30am-4pm) from August 10th-August 21st.

ABOUT THE CAMP
Action, Adventure, & Discovery await the campers of LuHi Country Day Camp – the ultimate day camp experience! A culmination of LuHi’s culture, Country Day offers a safe & structured environment where campers are encouraged to engage in new experiences, form friendships, andnmost importantly, have fun! mainstages will provide a two-week Specialty Production Camp of Beauty and The Beast Jr. run by a professional Theater Director, culminating in a final performance for family and friends on the final Friday of the program. There will be a pre-camp Virtual Open House for registered participants hosted by the Theater Director and Director of Programming to build excitement for the program and review expectations.

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Create a Production Outline to mount a production of Beauty and the Beast JR! 8 sessions, not including the Dress Rehearsal and Production Day.
  • Block, choreograph, and teach vocal music (with rehearsal tracks) to 30-35 campers ranging in age from 5th-10th Grade.
  • Support Counselors provided by LuHi.
  • Camp Program Hours: 8:30am-4:00pm.
  • There will be a 2 HR rehearsal in the morning from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM, and 2 HR 45 minute rehearsal in the afternoon from 12:30 PM – 3:15 PM.
  • Assist with camper dismissal from 3:30-3:55pm.
  • Attend and complete online training with mainstages.
  • Host a Pre-Camp Virtual Open House (Zoom) with the Director of Programming to build excitement and review program expectations for campers on Wednesday, August 5th.
  • Infuse excitement each day’s rehearsal to teach theater fundamental skills that are age appropriate.
