Splat Camp is seeking a dynamic, and super fun Group Games & Play Specialist

for our magical summer camp in Downtown Brooklyn. At Splat Camp we focus on all the things that are weird, gross, and cool. Each week has a different theme such as Halloween in July or Monsters. Throughout the week kids will create fun gooey projects based on the weekly theme such as volcano slime or dragon puppets. We are looking for a Group Games & Play Specialist who can create fun hour-long sessions for campers who may be drawn more towards arts and science.

About Us: 

Splat Lab partners with over 30 schools to provide high-quality and unique enrichment classes for youth in residencies, pop ups, and after school programs. We have two signature classes: Anthropology Arts, our history and art making class and Splat Lab our STEAM inspired class with 4 daily stations.

Job Position Summary

The specialist will design and facilitate highly engaging, structured but fun hour-long play sessions for groups of youth aged 3-10 and create outdoor activities for recess in the park. The specialist will have their own movement room in a beautiful new school building and a small budget for supplies. We are looking for someone who is creative, kooky, and super fun to create sessions that flow with our Splat culture. 

Schedule

Camp runs from July 5th-August 26th. The position will start the week of June 27th to allow for adequate time for staff orientation, move-in, certification training, and all teambuilding. The schedule will be Monday-Friday 10:30-3:00.

Roles & Responsibilities

Position Qualifications: We are looking for a fun person whose group management skills are top of the world..If you are a go-getter who wants the opportunity to step up and lead, this is the position for you!

  • Must have experience running groups at a high skill level
  • Current and future PE teachers, after school group leaders with that extra razzle dazzle and weird theater people all would be a great fit
  • Experience with positive youth development and social-emotional learning
  • Experience with 3 and 4-year-olds a plus
  • RTE and CPR PRO certifications a huge plus but we will provide training for this

Responsibilities

  • Design age-appropriate play sessions for 4 groups of youth aged 3-10 daily
  • Run morning play sessions at the school building 
  • Ensure outdoor recess/park time is safe and fun for kids, act as a “trip leader” for going to the park daily
  • Design and implement group games at the park for kids to join
  • Run afternoon play sessions in the school building
  • Build relationships with families and problem solve any issues as needed

Compensation

This is a paid hourly position that will be paid bi-weekly. $28 per hour
