Job Position Summary
The New School’s College of Performing Arts seeks a highly qualified Senior Manager, Course Planning to join its Curriculum and Learning team. Curriculum and Learning oversees over 500 courses, serving more than 1,000 students across the college. The Senior Manager will facilitate and lead curricular planning across the College of Performing Arts, with particular emphasis on cross-college programs, new course development, and interdisciplinary endeavors across the College of Performing Arts’ three schools — the School of Drama, the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and Mannes School of Music, as well as in the College’s cross-college programs, the Master of Arts in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship and Master of Music: Performer-Composer.
Reporting to the Vice Dean for Curriculum and Learning, the Senior Manager will work closely with a wide range of faculty and staff across the college and university.
This is an onsite position with opportunities for some remote work throughout the year.
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Advance strategic goals of the college, including the development of multidisciplinary curriculum, inter-program collaboration, and a student-centered approach to course planning
- Serve as a key member of the College of Performing Arts Curriculum and Learning team
- Serve as the primary course planner for CoPA’s new degrees and interdisciplinary programs
- Work closely with faculty to facilitate the maintenance of existing curriculum and development of new curriculum
- Ensure that all relevant factors have been considered in course planning including scheduling, staffing, room assignment, enrollment, section size, and advising
- Monitor and track progress, ensuring that course planning, registration, schedule building, space planning, and curriculum development deadlines are met
- Lead the on-boarding process for new faculty and provide guidance on the use of Canvas, Starfish, classroom technology, and other platforms and tools
- Oversee co-curricular activities, special projects, and events for CoPA’s graduate programs
- Contribute to the development and documentation of academic policies and procedures
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Three years of relevant experience in an arts or higher-education setting
- Deep understanding of curricular planning and course development practices for performing arts programs in higher education
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, summarize, and draw conclusions from large datasets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders including faculty, students, and staff
- Excellent task-management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experienced or ability to quickly learn and develop fluency in The New School’s suite of data systems including Banner, Canvas, WorkDay, Tableau, CoPARooms and 25Live
- Ability to adhere to university COVID-19 policy and requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
