Our programs are housed in 13 sites in NYC, one global program in Trinidad and Tobago and are also accessible virtually, online.

Job Position Summary
Girl Be Heard’s programs staff is part of a close knit, dedicated and energetic team. The Program Manager – Community Partnerships is responsible for the strategic management of community based programs, partnerships and initiatives organized by Girl Be Heard in support of its mission to build leaders, changemakers, and activists by developing, amplifying, and celebrating the voices of girls and young women through socially conscious theatre-making, storytelling, and performance.
The Program Manager – Community Partnerships leads the weekend community social justice and arts education program. Working closely with and as a thought partner to the Director of Programs, the Program Manager contributes to establishing the scope, sequence, focus and content of the GBH education program. They oversee the implementation of curriculum, cultivates and maintains community partnerships, develops and implements strategy to hit targets and metrics for programs, and manages teaching artists.
The ideal candidate for this position possesses flexibility, professionalism, passion, and a dedication to positive youth development, social justice, and spoken word performance. They are a hands-on strategic thinker, a planner and problem solver, prepared to lead and direct staff through change and program expansion. Excellent communication skills are critical. The Program Manager – Community Partnerships must be comfortable communicating with the people who receive services and their families, and equally comfortable in training staff, as well as presenting before school leaders and members of the community.
Roles & Responsibilities
Education Related
- Participate in cross team meetings to achieve organizational goals; attend training seminars, staff meetings, and community meetings as needed.
- Work with the Director of Programs to produce and analyze data to support continuous improvement. This includes defining goals, objectives, timelines, and securing the resources necessary to achieve optimal performance
Partnership Development:
- Develop and maintain partnerships with key collaborators of the GBH community ( community leaders, Board Members, etc.) to develop and expand effective programs and promising practices.
- Plan, implement and support all recruitment, enrollment, retention and referral efforts of GBH participants to ensure full enrollment and contractual requirements are met.
Team Management & Development
- Drive the development of a culture that embraces performance without sacrificing GBH’s commitment to youth experience and programmatic outcomes. This includes coaching and guiding personnel to welcome and celebrate learning at all levels of the organization.
- Develop and implement staff professional training and development workshops to support staff’s proficiency with implementing the GBH leadership as an ensemble framework and curriculum – on topics specific to identity, leadership, power, privilege, oppression, activism.
- Provide day-to-day programmatic and administrative support to the Weekend Workshops Teaching Artists. Conduct observational site visits and employ feedback protocols that serve as coaching opportunities for Teaching Artists.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate Teaching Artists.
Curriculum Implementation & Assessment
- Evaluate programs to ensure quality and effectiveness and implement changes in program design and administration as appropriate.
- Oversee fidelity of curriculum implementation delivering education and community programs for youth, community members, and professionals.
