Job Position Summary
The Dance Education & Family Programs Program Manager provides high-level administrative support to the department and works directly with and reports to its director. The manager is expected to perform routine clerical functions, liaise with performers, educators, youth, teaching artists, other departments within the organization, and the public primarily as it relates to the management of school programs. Excellent written and oral communication skills, computer literacy and strong organizational skills are required together with the ability to envision a project and apply creative, insightful, and innovative thinking.
An interest in community arts and familiarity with dance, dance education, and the New York City public school system along with previous administrative experience with a cultural organization or school is a plus. This position is ideal for anyone interested in arts administration and/or dance education.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Knowledge and interest in dance
- Database creation and management (Excel)
- Produce and maintain fiscal responsibilities
- Manage logistics of department activities and events
- Experience in successfully managing projects and initiatives is preferrable
- Attend related meetings, conferences and events
- Coordinate with other Joyce departments that support education programs
- Assist in documentation of department activities: Data reports and analysis
- Compose/edit department study guides and other media
- Strong research, writing, and editorial skills
- Creative thinker and problem-solver
- Self-starter and independent worker able to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Google Docs and Canva
- Willingness and availability to work some weekends and evenings as needed
- Lover of children and fun!
