Arts Ignite brings arts workshops, summer camps and after school programs to over 20,000 young people on three continents (Asia, Africa and North America.) Arts Ignite programs engage youth ages 4-21 through partnerships with community organizations, NGO’s, and schools, serving youth affected by systemic issues and their effects including: the justice system, gun violence, refugee status, homelessness, HIV/AIDS, systemic poverty and the caste system. Arts Ignite continuously adapts to meet the needs of the youth it serves in collaboration with partner organizations.
Job Position Summary
Arts Ignite is seeking an experienced Program Manager to join our team in leading the planning, execution, and evaluation of workshops, residencies, arts camps, and multimedia arts programming that reaches over 3,000 young people on four different continents and all five boroughs of New York City each year. As a dynamic leader with a passion for arts education, this role will support our longstanding partner relationships and help to cultivate new school and community partners as part of a team of three in the Programs department. This role will report directly to the Deputy Executive Director for Programs and Operation and enjoy a flexible work environment with both in-person and remote responsibilities.
Role Type: Full-time (Hybrid Position, Manhattan-based)
Salary: $60,000.00 plus benefits
Roles & Responsibilities
Program Management and Facilitation (50%)
- Coordinate and hire Teaching Artists and provide ongoing support throughout their placement for all New York City-based workshops and residencies, community events, Arts Ignite NOW!, and other programs as assigned Create job postings, conduct interviews, and hold responsibility for staffing all programs
- Provide Teaching Artist feedback on lesson plans Ensure program materials are ordered, organized, available for use at program sites, and returned back to Arts Ignite
- Support as substitute Teaching Artist as needed
- Edit Arts Ignite NOW! videos and upload to YouTube, create and send the Arts Ignite NOW! newsletter, and maintain the registration list
- Conduct classroom observations
- Lead Metrics and Evaluation through survey administration including creating and collecting program specific surveys and analyzing survey data to be used for internal goal setting, progress monitoring, final reporting, and stakeholder presentations
- Create and be held accountable for growth plans for all assigned programs following the Year-Over-Year projections and budgets
- Serve as liaison to partner organizations regarding program proposals, schedules, planning meetings, check-ins, background checks and clearances, and additional logistics, as needed
- Track program expenses and income in coordination with the Finance team and monitor against the program-specific and overall Programs Department budgets
- Coordinate and approve Teaching Artist payments and reimbursements per the Teaching Artist Payment Schedule
- Other duties as assigned
General Administration (40%)
- Design and maintain a lesson plan database
- Manage the Arts Ignite Teaching Artist application process, including responding to inquiries, data management and filing, and interviewing and training Teaching Artists for general placement
- Plan and execute Program Facilitator training and program oversight
- Lead monthly Teaching Artist calls and communications
- Support social media and communications efforts through content creation, content approval, coordination with Development and posting as needed
- Be responsible for the collection of program photos, videos, and digital content from Arts Ignite staff, Teaching Artists, and partner organizations for marketing and social media purposes
- Design and maintain a materials and supplies inventory
- Lead the general clerical support of programs and maintenance of key program documents and spreadsheets
- Lead and organize special projects when appropriate
- Manage program department interns as needed
- Report on departmental budget oversight
- Attend all staff and department meetings
- Lead and create agendas, presentation materials, and follow-up communications for partner meetings
- Upkeep departmental spreadsheets and documents as assigned
- Serve as an ambassador for Arts Ignite through participation in networking and program offerings from membership organizations including TAPT, Americans for the Arts, and the Arts in Education Roundtable
- Other duties as assigned
Fundraising and Development (10%)
- Assist and co-write narratives for grant proposals, LOIs, RFPs, presentations, and reports
- Provide support materials for Development as needed
- Assist and/or present at special events as needed
- Develop a relationship with program funders through timely written and verbal communications, program updates, and in-person site visits
- Prepare program pitch materials and deliver pitch presentations as needed
Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Arts Education, Arts Administration, or an arts discipline or comparable experience, master’s degree, a plus
- 3+ years working in arts education, arts administration, or arts nonprofits
- Passion for arts education and working with youth ages 1-21
- Cultural competence and sensitivity for varied student populations
- Advanced understanding of arts management technical skills including program planning, budgeting, marketing, and development
- Advanced understanding of arts education and educational pedagogies and practices including the Arts Ignite Program Standards
- High level of organization and self-motivation
- Ability to multitask and maintain deadlines
- Excellent communication with team members, partners, Teaching Artists and others through written and verbal communication and public speaking
- Ability to create and execute plans for programmatic growth
- Ability to speak, write, and translate in Spanish, a plus
