About Our Organization

All Shore Orchestra, a 501(c)(3) non-profit in New Jersey, is dedicated to enhancing musical performance and fostering cooperation among music educators. With a strong belief in the importance of orchestras in culture and education, it operates the All Shore Intermediate Orchestra (grades 6-8) and All Shore Orchestra (grades 9-12). Serving students in Monmouth, Middlesex, and Ocean Counties, the organization embraces students from diverse educational backgrounds who play violin, viola, cello, and double bass, emphasizing the orchestra’s educational and community role.

Job Position Summary

All Shore Orchestra seeks a dynamic Program Coordinator for our youth orchestra program. This part-time, seasonal role involves working closely with our team to nurture young talent, serve as a liaison between students, families, and faculty, and organize community events. The Coordinator will enhance connections within the musical community, fostering a nurturing environment for young musicians.

Roles & Responsibilities

  •  Plan and manage community events for the youth program, including workshops and concerts.
  • Attend music lessons to provide support to students.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress.
  • Manage program data.
  • Engage with families via various communication channels.
  • Support in maintaining the music library and producing youth orchestra concerts.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and development sessions.
  • Occasionally chaperone students or substitute lead classes.
  • Assist in broader educational and community engagement efforts.

 

Who You Are:

Essential:

  • Experience in arts education.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • Passion for youth development and music education.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Familiarity with music education pedagogies and youth orchestra culture.
  • Experience in music engagement strategies for children.
  • Proficient in computer skills and communication tools.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of string instrument fundamentals.
  • Interest in El Sistema and other youth orchestra programs.
  • Musical proficiency and reading music is a plus.
