Job Position Summary

BRIC seeks a Program Associate, to provide administrative and logistical support for youth and family programs, including school-based residency programs, family programs at BRIC House and the annual student exhibition.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Program Associate will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Manager, Contemporary Art Education:

  • Purchasing, preparing, delivering/collection of art materials and media equipment for program use, supporting with inventory and materials/equipment management
  • Visiting program sites to conduct classroom observations, support instruction, take photo documentation, support culminating events and installation of projects
  • Support with professional development sessions for teaching artists, including preparing materials and PowerPoint presentations, researching topics and possible guest facilitators
  • Provide administrative support including program records, organizing materials and data for grant proposals and reports, collection and organization of teaching artists’ curriculum, photo documentation, student work samples, and other program materials, as needed
  • Assist with public family programming and department events at BRIC House and school-based family workshops
  • Support the coordination of annual student exhibition, including collection of student work in visual art and media, preparation of wall labels, preparation of media reels, and participation in overall curation and execution of exhibition
  • Assist on other special projects as determined by supervisor and Director of Department

  • Experience.
    • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience (1 to 3 years)
    • Effective verbal and written communication, ability to adapt communication approach to various stakeholders
    • Some teaching/ youth experience is required, the program coordinator may be called upon to lead BRIC House tours, assist with family events, and occasionally serve as a substitute teaching artist in schools and program sites
    • Knowledge and experience with various art materials and media equipment/ software
    • Some Adobe Photoshop/ design experience is a plus, ability to create simple flyers for programs and events
    • Some Adobe Premiere/ video and audio editing experience is a plus, ability to support with post-production of student projects
    • Cultural competency and prior experience working with diverse populations
    • Prior experience with Google Suite
    • Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
    • Collaborative, team-oriented
    • Some knowledge of NYC arts education landscape, an understanding of how nonprofits like BRIC work in public schools

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $45k-$48k.
  • Status and location: This is a full-time, exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.
