Job Position Summary
The faculty member will maintain a private studio of 4-6 teaching hours of students varying between beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Classes and lessons take place after school on weekdays and/or mornings-afternoon on Saturday.
The teacher is responsible for creating a strong and welcoming studio environment and preparing students for consistent performances throughout the year. Beyond teaching and performance experience, the ideal candidate will also be civic-minded, seeking an opportunity to give back to the community, and deeply value equity in classical music.
Roles & Responsibilities
Principal Duties for Private Teaching include:
- Create a private teaching schedule by communicating directly with families.
- Communicate clearly with families at each lesson about practicing expectations.
- Maintain a consistent teaching schedule.
- Prepare private students for a minimum of two solo performances yearly.
- Submit monthly hours for payroll.
- Attend student recitals.
- Demonstrate concrete success in overseeing yearly development in students.
- Report to the Director of Programs.
- Suzuki training is a plus, but not a must.
- Familiarity with NYSSMA requirements and experience with video and photo documentation, social media, and digital content, technological capacity to provide virtual facilitation if needed, as well as knowledge of virtual platforms like Zoom, Google Meet.
