Job Position Summary

PWC is looking for qualified Teaching Artists to work with students across a variety of programs. An ideal candidate will be experienced in teaching their respective art form and expertise in LATIN DANCE to groups of children in a school setting and is either skilled in a variety of art forms or specializes in one art form or style. An ideal candidate is willing to work with PWC staff and schools’ administrations to help determine and design programming that will best fit the needs of the school communities we serve. This listing is not for a specific TA position, but rather for the opportunity to be added to PWC Teaching Artist Database, meaning you’d be on the short list of contacts for relevant opportunities as they arise.

Roles & Responsibilities

Qualifications:

PWC is seeking motivated, flexible, adaptable, and positive Teaching Artists to join us in facilitating Arts Education programming. The right candidate will:

  • Have at least 2 years’ experience as a Teaching Artist in their respective art form and expertise, ideally in NYC public schools.
  • Hold a strong understanding of arts integration best practices and strategies.
  • Focus on the intersection of the arts and Social Emotional Learning/Competencies.
  • Possess strong collaboration skills with classroom teachers, other teaching artists, social workers, administrators, etc.
  • Be experienced in lesson planning/creating curriculum for K-12 students.

Requirements:

  • TA must utilize their artistry and pedagogical knowledge to implement an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning that encourages students to engage, create and reflect.
  • TA must be fingerprinted by the NYC Department of Education (PETS Certified) and currently eligible for work in NYC public schools.
  • TA must be willing and available to plan with partner teachers, partner social workers, and/or school staff members, as necessary.
  • TA must submit all paperwork, such as lesson plans and time sheets, in accordance with program guidelines.
  • TA must attend and actively participate in all required orientations and Professional Learning workshops, and meetings.
  • TA must be willing to collaborate with classroom teachers and school administrators.
  • TA must maintain open communication with Arts Education Department staff.
