Job Position Summary

  • Looking for Bronx based art and hip hop lead teachers or assistant teachers for a middle school all boys site.
  • Hours can be flexible, based on agreed-upon schedule and availability
  • Monday-Friday school day classes occur sometime between 9:00 am-2:45 pm
  • You can be scheduled to work 1-4 classes in total per day – each class is 45-60 minutes long on average and we are required to arrive on site 20 – 30 minutes prior to each class start time
  • Depending on your availability, we can explore booking you to work 1-5 days a week

Roles & Responsibilities

For lead teaching artists: You will lead either an art or hip hop class to an all boys site based in the bronx. You will need at least 2 years proven experience teaching in NYC based public or charter schools settings and understanding of how to work with diverse learners. Our teaching artists need to be able to lead a well rounded class in their chosen specialty. You will be provided with an assistant.
Must have:

  • Experience working in schools or with large groups of children.
  • Experience in the arts, music (drumming and percussive), dance, art, theatre arts, yoga mindfulness. Does not need to be professional but must have basic knowledge.
  • Experience working with different learning styles and children of different backgrounds.
  • Someone who loves arts education, working with children and wants experience working in schools around the city!

For teaching Assistants: You will be teamed up with one of our lead teaching artists. You will support them during school-day classes OR after-school enrichment classes in; classroom management, activities, instruction, demonstrations, communication and supervision. You will be there to help them lead an engaging, inclusive, safe and positive arts-education class for the children.
Must have:
