T&W seeks to educate the imagination by offering innovative creative writing programs for students and teachers, and by providing a variety of publications and resources to support learning through the literary arts. Job Position Summary
T&W seeks a part-time Grants Manager to contribute 15-20 hours/week to support the Executive Director with the goal of increasing grant revenue. The Grants Manager is responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and tracking grant proposals that support our mission. This person serves as the primary grant writer, and may also be involved in managing funder relationships, reporting, and supporting special project initiatives. This position requires strong writing, collaboration, and project management skills.
Roles & Responsibilities
Lead grant proposal development and submission—preparing and organizing materials for proposals, and submitting and monitoring grant applications, including:
- Researching new funding opportunities on a local, state, and federal level
- Drafting proposals/LOIs, grant application narratives, and budgets and collaborate to finalize with program staff and the Executive Director
- Submitting grant applications via paper or online portals
- Maintaining master calendar of grants and prospects and all associated files and correspondence
- Maintaining library of grant language and support documents
- Researching statistics, trends and data for grant proposals
As needed, support the Executive Director with:
- Developing fundraising strategy
- Communicating with funders, maintaining and building relationships to explore funding opportunities
- Grant reporting: drafting compelling grant reports, monitoring and maintaining funder reporting schedules and requirements
Qualifications
Although we may consider exceptional candidates without all of the following qualifications, the ideal candidate will have 3+ years’ experience in an administrative role. A demonstrated interest in the literary arts and/or arts education preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a professional, preferably non-profit, environment
- 3+ years of experience in fundraising, grant writing or grants management;
- Strong persuasive writing and editing skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Demonstrated project management and time management skills; ability to drive projects to completion and multi-task
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to use good judgment, take initiative and make recommendations in developing T&W’s grants portfolio
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite, especially Word/Docs and Excel/Sheets
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines
