GO Project is based in NYC and all positions for GO Summer 2023 will be in-person. Locations are in lower Manhattan and Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Job Position Summary
The GO Project seeks engaging enrichment specialists for our five-week summer program. Specifically, we are looking for individuals with experience teaching with an enrichment focus in any of the following areas: art, science, movement, computer technology, sports, robotics, music, theater/acting, martial arts and drama/performance arts. Each enrichment teacher will be responsible for teaching a class of 15 students in either grades K-4 (elementary school) or grades 5-8 (middle school). The enrichment classes offered to GO Project students in the summer provide an opportunity for students to interact with each other and explore their own talents outside the typical, academic setting.
Additional Requirements
All staff must pass a background check and provide a medical clearance form signed by a medical professional prior to training.
Program Dates and Training:
All dates and training sessions are mandatory. Please note that absences are extremely disruptive to the learning process, please ensure you are able to attend all program days. All training sessions are mandatory and cannot be rescheduled although the exact times are TBD.
In-Person Training: 6/29, 6/30*
Summer Program Dates: 7/5 – 8/4
*additional asynchronous training may be required as part of the training schedule.
Typical Schedule
The typical schedule for this role is Monday – Friday 12:30 -5:30 pm
Compensation:
Salary range for this position is $22-25hr. for approximately 25 hours per week over 5 weeks.
GO Project also offers early application and referral bonuses. Successful candidates who apply by April 1, 2023 are eligible for a $100 early applicant bonus.
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Develop a 5-week programmatic experience for youth through which they develop skills in the enrichment area and have an opportunity to demonstrate their learning (portfolio, showcase, etc.)
- Implement enrichment activities that are youth-centered, project-based and reflective of different learning styles
- Lead a warm, inviting, and focused classroom environment that welcomes all students in safe and caring space
- Develop a classroom culture in which students demonstrate trust in adults and peers by taking intellectual risks, providing and accepting feedback, and celebrating each other’s successes
- Actively collaborate with all campus staff and families to contribute to an efficient and positive campus culture
- Execute campus-wide procedures with fidelity at the direction of the Director of Campus Instruction and in collaboration with teammates
- Deliverables must be high-quality and submitted on or before all deadlines. Deliverables include: Weekly lesson plans and feedback surveys
- Accept and implement all feedback from your Director of Campus Instruction and direct supervisor
- Must be available to participate in training, campus huddles and meetings
- Must be available for all GO Summer program days
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age and able to work in the United States.
- At least 2 years of successful experience working with groups of children in grades K-4 or 5-7
- At least 2 years of classroom management experience
- Experience with program planning and program facilitation
- An unshakable conviction that all students can learn and grow when appropriately supported and pushed to their highest potential
- Positive, strengths-based communication style
- Ability to build lasting and meaningful relationships with team members, students, and families
- Strong commitment to professional and personal growth
- Fluency using google drive, google sheets, google forms, and google docs
