Roundabout Theatre Company, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit theatres, seeks an energetic, personable individual to join the company as the Education Manager, Professional Development.

Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning, the Education Manager for Professional Development will collaborate closely with the entire education department, managing our internal and external professional learning for teaching artists, education staff, and educators. This is a permanent full-time position in our midtown office.

This is some of what the Education Manager, Professional Development will do:

• External Professional Development
  • Produce workshops, events, and institutes in collaboration with Teaching & Learning team.
  • Design and implement curriculum and pedagogical resources in collaboration with Education Staff & Teaching Artists.
  • Manage relationships with partners at Department of Education (Office of Arts & Special Projects, Afterschool Professional Development Program, etc.) and school leaders (Principals, Arts Liaisons, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Schools Team to produce professional development workshops for school partners.
  • Collaborate with Director of Teaching & Learning to manage programming budget, calendar, and marketing.
  • Utilize Tessitura to track programming & constituent relationships.
  • Work with Director of Teaching & Learning to sustain Roundabout’s contracts and compliance with city and state professional development services and programs.
  • As needed, facilitate and host workshops, events, and institutes.
  • Identify opportunities to evolve programming in response to constituent needs, educational trends, and Roundabout artistic programming.
  • Create and update marketing materials in coordination with Roundabout’s Marketing department.
  • Collaborate with Education staff to ensure programs are represented on Education at Roundabout’s social media.

• Internal Professional Development
  • Produce staff and teaching artist training in collaboration with department directors.
  • Manage Teaching Artist recruitment and hiring process.
  • Revise, implement, and track Teaching Artist onboarding and mentoring processes in collaboration with Director of Teaching & Learning.
  • Collaborate with Director of Teaching & Learning to codify equitable policies and practices relating to Teaching Artists.
  • Liaise with and support teaching artists navigating company systems, software, and policies.
  • Collaborate with Director of Teaching & Learning to manage programming budget, calendar, and communication.
  • System Administrator for TA Time Tracking software.
  • Process weekly teaching artist payroll.
  • Regularly report on progress of teaching artist projects & distribution of work.
  • Assist with logistics of Teaching Artist Observations & Annual Performance Assessments.
  • Utilize Tessitura to track TA onboarding and work assignments.

• Other
  • Manage program assessment and reporting, as needed.
  • Liaise with special guests for programming, including external partners, Roundabout artists, & Roundabout staff.
  • Coordinate program materials and catering, as needed.
  • Communicate with teaching artists, school representatives, external clients, and Roundabout staff via phone, email, and in-person meetings to administer programming.
  • Ensure photo and video documentation of PD programming and events.
  • Provide support to Education Staff to produce and staff department events including the annual Roundabout Youth New Original Works Festival, IATSE Hidden Career Path Days, College and Career Readiness Days, Student Matinees, etc.
  • Represent Roundabout at arts education conferences, workshops, Annual DOE Partnership Fair, and other events.

This is some of what the Education Manager, Professional Development should bring:

• 5+ years of experience required in the field of arts administration or arts education – experience coordinating Professional Development programs at plus.
• Strong administrative and interpersonal skills.
• A general knowledge of all aspects of professional theatre.
• Knowledge of NYC schools.
• Experience writing or contributing to grant applications is a plus.
• Computer software skills: Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Tessitura, CRM, Form Assembly.
• Comfortable interacting with students, educators, parents, artists, and arts education professionals.
• Multilingual skills a plus.
• Able to lift 20 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.

The salary for this role is $58,500 annually. Competitive benefits package offered

Location and Hours

Roundabout’s Education Offices are located on the 3rd Floor of the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. An elevator is available for the majority of the time, however, there are times that the elevator is not available. The department is temporarily relocated to Roundabout’s Rehearsal Hall, located at 115 West 45th Street, 11th Floor (elevators are available to access the floor).

The general schedule is Monday-Friday 10am – 6pm with some weekend and evening hours required.
