About Our Organization

Founded in 1977, our staff of 85 experienced Teaching Artists provides a full spectrum of arts experiences in over 140 schools in all 5 boroughs of NYC. Marquis Studios directly serves 25,000 children each year. Our programs are designed to integrate arts activities with instruction in academic core subjects by making use of state and city standards. The planning process is individualized for each program or residency with the Teaching Artists and classroom Teachers meeting to discuss the educational goals of each class before the lesson plan is created. Not just a one-time program, Marquis Studios involves the entire school community through professional development for school staff and family workshops to create sustainable arts integration.

Job Position Summary

The Education Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Education Department working closely with the Director of Education assisting in the management of a roster of approximately 85 part-time Teaching Artists. The Education Coordinator will support Teaching Artists by conducting in person participatory observations in all five boroughs of New York City, reviewing unit plans and compiling school and Teaching Artist survey feedback. The Education Coordinator will also assist the Director of Education in planning and preparing professional development workshops and conference presentations including, but not limited to our biannual PD Days for Teaching Artists as well as our six-week TATI (Teaching Artist Training Institute) program. This position is a great fit for an organized, collaborative, passionate arts educator and/or administrator who is interested in growing within the Education team at Marquis Studios.

Marquis Studios operates on a hybrid schedule of remote and in-person work. This position is based in New York City and requires someone who can commute to the administrative office and school sites regularly.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BFA) or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in a related field (Arts administration, Education and/or administrative experience)
  • Ability to travel to multiple schools throughout NYC and in all five boroughs
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Dropbox and/or learning a CRM system
  • Available to work occasional weekends and evenings
  • A positive outlook and a sense of humor!

SALARY: Commensurate with experience ranging from $40,000 – $45,000 annually.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Education with managing the quality of all Marquis Studios teaching procedures for in‐school and after school programs, including:
    • Reviewing Teaching Artists’ unit plans as well as notifying Teaching Artists of late and missing paperwork.
    • Traveling to all 5 boroughs of NYC to observe Teaching Artists delivering in school and after school residency programs in public schools.
    • Assisting with creating and compiling resources for education and programming purposes.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Education on professional development planning and management, including:
    • Providing support for the biannual all staff/Teaching Artist PD Days.
    • Notifying Teaching Artists of professional development workshop details.
    • Creating and monitoring participant sign-ups for events, reviewing agendas, researching, and booking outside spaces when necessary, and taking meeting minutes.
    • Ordering materials and catering for workshops/events.
  • Support and assist the Director of Education in the planning, preparing and facilitation of TATI (Teaching Artist Training Institute), a six-week training program for a cohort of art educators seeking more training in working with students with disabilities (https://www.marquisstudios.org/programs/tati).
  • Compile, organize and present information and feedback from schools, Teaching Artists and professional development workshops for reporting purposes.
  • Attend the Teaching Artist led, Teaching Artist Advisory Board quarterly meetings and take meeting minutes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
