Job Position Summary

Reel Works seeks an exceptional part-time Education Associate for our in-school education workshops, which at this time are entirely remote. Reel Works mentors, inspires and empowers underserved NYC youth to share their stories through filmmaking, creating a springboard to successful careers in media and beyond.

This is a part-time position supporting the program directors and instructors through coordination of program communications, as well as classroom observation, and education interns. The
Education Associate will work under the supervision of the Director of Education and will support in-school programming which includes Cultural After School Adventures (CASA), Burberry Inspire
Arts and Paramount Youth Take Action workshops.

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Organize professional development workshops for educators
  • Communicate with the Director of Education on regular basis to ensure alignment with the vision and mission of the program
  • Support Teaching Artist & Student Teaching Artist programs and communication
  • Manage workshop technology needs
  • Organize events such as the Cultural Runway and In-Schools Film Festival

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in program management
  • At least 3 years of experience working with a diverse student population and a passion for youth development
  • Knowledge of political, cultural, technical, and educational practices with a focus on youth development and student-centered inquiry-based learning, culturally relevant pedagogy, critical pedagogy, equity, and social justice
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills
  • Understanding of and proven track record employing principles of positive youth development
  • Ability to multi-task and attend to details while keeping an eye on the big picture
  • Experience with and respect for protocols
  • Familiarity with youth media
  • Detail-oriented individual and a strong team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Multiple languages is a plus

Compensation: This is a part-time position that does not include health benefits. Hourly wage commensurate with experience in filmmaking, technical skills, teaching, and youth development up to $15 – $20 an hour. The time commitment is 20 hrs a week, remote and in-office.
