Save The Music Foundation is a 501(c)(3) music education nonprofit that helps students, schools, and communities reach their full potential through the power of making music. For 25 years, Save The Music (STM) has addressed systemic inequities in music education by investing in culturally rich communities across the US. Since its inception, STM has donated nearly $70M worth of instruments and technology to over 2,500 schools – impacting millions of students’ lives.
Job Position Summary
For 25 years, Save The Music (STM) has used a comprehensive model to affect change in America’s public schools. STM’s approach combines investments of instruments and resources to jumpstart music programs, support to music teachers’ development and day-to-day work, and advocacy for music as a necessary component of every student’s education. This position will be responsible for all programs and grant implementations in the Eastern U.S. Region defined by the STM Leadership Team.
Roles & Responsibilities
Partnership Cultivation and Advocacy
- Cultivate and manage the relationships between local school districts, school sites and government officials, music advocates, music educators, community arts organizations, like-minded local partners and music retailers in assigned regions
- Work with STM Development team in communication and coordination with funders to plan and execute regular donor engagement opportunities/events/school visits
- Work with STM Marketing and Communications team on program visibility through grantee school/district interest stories, talent engagement, school events, and local press engagement
- Represent Save The Music at various events, including the public presentation of remarks on behalf of the Foundation in assigned regions
- Participate in Regional, State, Local Level Arts Education meetings and conferences including but not limited to state and regional music educators conferences, collective impact arts education and related organizations and local, state and regional funders networks
Program Implementation
- Strategically make multi-year grant plans for each school district with which we partner
- Identify qualified schools and execute grant making with Manager of Grant Operations
- Monitor progress of grantee programs and provide program support
- Plan local teacher professional development opportunities and long-term residency programs with Senior Manager of Teacher Programs
- Plan and execute school related events including but not limited delivery events and talent/artist engagement visits
Compliance of Past Grantees
- Collaborate with Program Coordinator to conduct research on all Save The Music grant recipient schools on the East Coast. Track the existence of music programs in these schools as well as the usage of STM donated instruments in the area by visiting past grantee schools/districts
Carry out any additional special assignments as directed by the SD
