STEM From Dance envisions a world where underrepresented minority girls are creative, confident, and equipped to be leaders and innovators in the STEM fields. To this end, SFD gives girls access to a STEM education by using dance to empower, educate, and encourage them as our next generation of engineers, scientists, and techies. Since 2012, SFD has partnered with schools and communities, serving more than 1,000 girls across New York City and beyond.

STEM From Dance has been on a consistent growth trajectory for the past ten years, increasing our budget by 10X and tripling our students served annually. We are at a pivotal and compelling moment as an organization. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome a Director, Programs to play a critical role in our next stage. This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

As the Director of Programs, you will be responsible for the success and growth of STEM From Dance’s programs, overseeing seamless team management, high-quality program delivery, and impact-driven evaluation. You are a proven trailblazer, ready to bring your excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills to our work. You are poised to help carry out the bold vision in our strategic plan for strengthening our current program model, as well as to oversee and help steward our national and global expansion. As an experienced manager, you will lead and develop the Program Team, truly driving and ultimately owning the success of our programs.

• Help to steward the strategic direction and growth of programming 
  • Work with the CEO to implement the program expansion envisioned in the current strategic plan
  • Work with the CEO and the board to establish and execute goals and objectives, both long-term and short-term
  • Work with the CEO and consultants to design curriculum, new programs, and evaluation infrastructure
  • Present reports to the board of directors on program strategy, evaluation, and impact 
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders through conferences and professional networking to support program expansion and impact
• Manage the Program Team
  • Motivate and provide leadership to direct reports 
  • Assign, track, and prioritize work across a team appropriately to ensure high-quality outputs
  • Create and implement systems and practices for optimal team and individual performance
• Lead program implementation and evaluation
  • Set and track goals for various programs in alignment with strategic objectives
  • Craft and obtain organizational buy-in for programmatic priorities and goals that drive program impact
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize the growth and expansion of the program locally, nationally, and globally
  • Oversee implementation of continual improvement of curriculum and programming
  • Oversee the implementation of program evaluation
  • Participate in the budget development process and maintain a high level of fiscal responsibility within the Program Team
• Contribute to the Leadership Team
  • Keep senior management informed of programmatic matters
  • Give input on organization-wide strategic decisions
  • Ensure that all organizational decisions are translated to and through the Program Team
