Director of Development

Salvadori Center

About Our Organization

For nearly 50 years, the Salvadori Center has provided innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts/Architecture, and Math (STEAM) programs for thousands of 3K-12 students in under-resourced communities in New York City as well as Northeastern Pennsylvania. Our multi-day in-school and after-school programs use the built environment ~ buildings, bridges, parks, and communities ~ to show students how what they learn in school is part of their everyday lives. Our collaborative, hands-on, project-based approach instills teamwork, effective communication, critical thinking, and creative problem solving ~ vital skills students need to succeed. Third-party assessments show that Salvadori students:

  • feel more confident in their math and science ability;
  • are more motivated to pursue educational/career choices in STEAM fields;
  • improved their knowledge of math, engineering, and architecture concepts;
  • increased their understanding of the scientific inquiry process.

All curricula link directly to grade-specific learning objectives as well as national, state, and local learning standards. All our programs are delivered by full-time, trained Salvadori Educators and include a curriculum with lesson plans, planning sessions with school staff, and all materials and supplies to make hands-on learning come alive. Moreover, the Salvadori Center is committed to providing these services to schools at the lowest possible price. Salvadori fundraises to subsidize programs to schools, covering 65% of the costs and not raising prices to schools in over ten years.
