About Our Organization

Notes in Motion/Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre, a vendor of NYC Department of Education, offers inclusive  in-school, after-school, and community programs that teach dance styles including ballet, modern, jazz, African dance, Latin dance, hip hop, tap, musical theater, and more.  Our dance programs combine technical skill-based instruction with creative expression and foster self-discovery, risk-taking, and individual leadership.

Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre/Notes in Motion is rooted in our mission of offering access, nurturing community, and promoting individual expression and freedom. Our dance education programs in the NYC schools offer students tools to express themselves, engage with their peers, and gain a more well rounded school experience. Through sharing and providing access to this inclusive learning model, we are engaged in the critical work of breaking down barriers of systematic racism and oppression. We actively recruit diverse teaching artists, dancers, staff, and board to reflect, empower, and celebrate the diverse populations we serve. Job Position Summary

Notes in Motion Outreach Dance Theatre is seeking experienced Dance Teaching Artists in a variety of styles including African Dance, Latin Dance, Contemporary/Modern, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, and more. for ongoing dance and movement in-school and after-school programs in the NYC Public Schools. These are paid teaching opportunities to inspire young people with dance in underserved communitities throughout the five boroughs of NYC. We are looking for Teaching Artists available 2-3 days/week during school hours 8am-2pm or for after-school programs 2-6 p.m.

Roles & Responsibilities

Qualified candidates should have extensive experience in 1-2 dance styles plus additional  experience in other dance styles including African, Latin dance, ballet, modern, jazz, tap, ballroom, hip hop, and/or creative dance training a PLUS. Candidates should have experience teaching in NYC public schools (or similar settings) elementary, middle, and/or high school populations.

We are looking for Teaching Artists available 2-3 days/week during school hours 8am-2pm or for after-school programs 2-6 p.m.

LESSON PLAN should be a 45-50 minute session and indicate what age it is targeted for.
