About Our Organization

Vivarta Arts is a 501(3)(c) tax-exempt nonprofit organization based in New York City. Our mission is educating the masses by bringing extraordinary, boundary-pushing productions to stage thus promoting the understanding and experience of Indian classical dance and music. Our goal is to make classical art forms accessible to the public at large while simultaneously remaining faithful to the beauty of its tradition and richness of its history.

Translating dance into enduring societal contributions, Vivarta Arts dispels cultural stereotypes and connects diverse communities through cross-genre and multicultural live performances, dance and music education, and outreach efforts that inspire global unity and togetherness.

Our dedicated students and team are passionate about teaching Indians and non-Indians alike about India’s rich traditions and history via the cultural arts.

Job Position Summary

Are you a passionate teaching artist with experience in cultural or world dance forms? We’re looking for dynamic and engaging instructors to join our Global Steps team—a cultural dance residency program bringing the rhythms and traditions of the world into elementary and middle school classrooms.

We are currently seeking artists who specialize in:

African Dance (traditional or contemporary)
Indian Dance (Bollywood, folk, or classical)
Latin Dance (Salsa, Merengue, etc.)
Chinese Folk Dance
Caribbean, Hip Hop, or other global styles

Details:

Classes take place weekday mornings (exact times vary by school)
Locations include Queens and/or Long Island (Nassau County)
Artists will teach movement, cultural context, and assist students with choreography for a culminating performance
Competitive compensation provided per class
Program structure and materials will be provided
