About Our Organization
The New York City Arts in Education Roundtable is a service organization and a community of arts education practitioners that shares information, provides professional development, and communicates with the public to promote our work in schools and beyond. The Roundtable produces a major annual conference, Face to Face; monthly professional development programs; a destination website; and other activities, in addition to ongoing advocacy and communications efforts to improve and advance the state of arts education.

Job Position Summary
The Communications Manager is a part-time position (20-25 hours a week) working remotely with occasional in-person hours in our Manhattan office space near Union Square or at Roundtable program event venues in NYC (starting in April 2022). This position will be responsible for creating and executing marketing and communications strategies in support of Roundtable initiatives, programming, and membership. This includes managing and growing the organization’s social media presence, email communications, website maintenance, and occasional graphic design work.
A successful candidate is a detail-oriented, tech-savvy self-starter with a passion for and in-depth knowledge about arts in education and building communities through technology. We are looking for a candidate who can proactively generate ways to advance the Roundtable’s brand creation and representation, increase audiences, and develop and implement new campaigns and ideas to further our advocacy efforts.
The position is open until filled, but preference will be given to those candidates who apply on or before Monday, February 7, 2022.

Roles & Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Communications Manager include:
- Managing functionality and maintenance of social networking tools (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and Twitter), including writing engaging social media content, designing compelling graphics, monitoring social media posts, replying to comments, engaging with our audience, responding to Direct Messages (DMs), and coordinating targeted Facebook ads.
- Collaborating with the Executive Director on website administration and content creation including an understanding of web analytics and graphic design. Experience working in WordPress and HTML, a plus.
- Working with the Executive Director to continue developing the Roundtable’s style and branding guide.
- Planning, creating, and sending email blasts via MailChimp.
- Activating and engaging new communities, while managing a range of existing communities across social media channels and groups.
- Communicating with Roundtable audiences about on-going advocacy efforts and partnering with the Roundtable’s Advocacy Committee to help “keep the drumbeat”.
- Supporting Zoom live-streaming and social media audience engagement during Roundtable programming including the need to be present at events outside of business hours including the Roundtable’s major annual conference, Face to Face, as well as the Day of Learning.
- Draft press releases.
- Driving arts education practitioners and advocates to advocacy actions and tools through compelling, mission- and advocacy- focused storytelling.
- Collaborating with Roundtable staff on production of the annual Face to Face Conference.
- Performing other duties as reasonably instructed by the Executive Director.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of social media experience and/or marketing experience
- Demonstrated fluency in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
- Passion for and knowledge of NYC’s arts education and arts & culture ecosystems
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, copy editing, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated team player who works well with diverse groups of people
- Proven ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and racial justice
- Experience with MailChimp, WordPress, and G-Suite
- Graphic design experience preferred
- Video editing experience preferred
