Job Position Summary
This job is the lead artist/educator for an after-school (CASA) program with 6-8th graders from 3-5pm for 20 contact hours over two months (April-May). The focus of the program is Environmental Justice using the arts. The final project is an exhibition by students to be shown at the Morris-Jumel Mansion. There is a school teacher who will support the program as well.
Roles & Responsibilities
The artist/educator will be responsible for leading 10 2 hour workshops, working with external artists to lead some of these workshops, taking two field trips with students, and working with Morris-Jumel Mansion staff to follow lesson plans and ensure necessary resources. Fluency in Spanish is necessary. A positive outcome will be leading the students to understand the issues around environmental justice and express their understanding and advocate for themselves and their neighborhood through art.
