After School Teaching Artist – Acting, Theater Arts and Movement

WR Arts provides quality performing arts enrichment education in a safe and supportive environment throughout the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area in afternoon programs including In School & Studio settings. WR Arts strives to support Northern Brooklyn’s diverse communities, bridging cultures through the performing arts. Job Position Summary

We’re looking to bring on an engaging instructor to join our studio team 1 day a week with the possibility of adding additional classes. Instructors are responsible for creating and teaching lessons that excite our students and give an introduction to Theater Arts through Drama, Improv work & movement.

A little about you: your self motivated, a committed educator and artist who has the ability to adapt to a studio or classroom setting. Your adaptable, able to pivot on a dime and understand classroom and individual student needs.  Ideal applicants love working with children and want to establish a career in arts education

Applicants should be comfortable teaching drama, theater arts dance techniques. Prior teaching experience is required and familiarity with ages 4 -10 is a plus. Extensive dance training is not required however, basic dance terminology and knowledge is important.

We’re looking for a candidate who can jump in and being classes for an Intro to Theater class (ages 6-9) immediately. Our studio session runs through January 27, 2023.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • 2 years of teaching experience as a lead teacher
  • Familiarity with students ages 5-10
  • Able to create a welcoming and safe learning environment and ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Create exciting lessons that engage students
  • Excellent classroom management and ability to encourage participation
  • Reliable and committed to arts education
  • Team player: able to collaborate with other afterschool teachers and studio program manager.
  • Must be available Mondays from 2pm – 5:30pm

Additional responsibilities:

After school pick: we work with neighborhood schools and offer pickup for our studio program. New teachers will be responsible for picking up a group of students and safety bring them back to our studio location before classes.

Proof of Covid vaccination is required for this role.
