About Our Organization
Our mission is to promote positive outcomes for children and adults in Sunset Park through the provision of a comprehensive range of neighborhood-based family and social services.
Our afterschool and summer camp programs engage children in consistent group and community-building activities that promote social, physical, academic, and artistic development during out-of-school hours. These programs offer a diverse range of activities that provide opportunities for children to practice and master skills while having fun.
Job Position Summary
To create and facilitate age-appropriate performing arts activities for after-school participants (K-5th) as part of a multidisciplinary team
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lessons that integrate technical dance and theater skills, social-emotional learning, and self-expression
- Design activities that promote teamwork, communication, and experimentation in large and small group settings
- Utilize thoughtful group-management skills (restorative processes instead of punitive discipline) in a non-traditional classroom setting
- Contribute to the planning and execution of special events including dance/theater performances, staff development training, and other community building activities
- Attend weekly professional development meetings
- Provide daily program support as needed, including but not limited to: supervising transitions, cleaning shared spaces, organizing materials, assisting with administrative tasks
