Lawton Academy of Performing Arts is a vibrant training ground for young performers on Long Island, offering a supportive and inspiring space for students ages 5 to 15 to explore theater, music, TV Acting, and filmmaking. We believe in cultivating confidence, creativity, and community through high-quality arts education.

Job Position Summary

We’re seeking an enthusiastic Acting Teacher with a passion for working with children and teens to lead group classes in acting, improvisation, and performance. The ideal candidate is a dynamic teaching artist who understands how to balance discipline with fun, and who brings out the best in young performers.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead weekly acting classes for students ages 5–15, grouped by age and level
  • Assist in the rehearsal and performance of musical productions
  • Introduce fundamentals of performance, improv, scene work, and character development
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Collaborate with staff on student showcases and seasonal performances
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and encouragement tailored to young learners
