Join the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable and Phil Alexander for this dynamic conversation and brainstorm discussion related to the Roundtable’s recent report on Teaching Artist (TA) compensation in NYC.
At the January convening of the monthly Arts Education Leaders Open Space, the Roundtable will welcome Phil Alexander (Grants Manager, Teachers & Writers Collaborative and Roundtable board member) to facilitate a conversation and visioning session with attendees regarding the research and suggestions in the Roundtable’s recently published 2025 Paying for Professionalism Report on New York City Teaching Artist Compensation and Employment.
This conversation is geared primarily toward arts administrators and representatives of organizations that employ Teaching Artists, and will focus on generating practical action steps for improving practices for TA compensation, both in our organizations and the field at large. Alexander believes, “even if we can’t overhaul it completely, most of us have the capacity to implement small changes for a more equitable compensation system, and we can each move the needle in the right direction.”
