Join the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable for this new limited series designed to support the work of arts administrators.
This new series curated by the Roundtable will dive into topics to support administrators working in the arts and culture sector. This series will feature sessions on frequently requested topics from the Roundtable community, including budgeting skills and practices, fostering and sustaining relationships with elected officials and government agencies, and building successful, mutually beneficial partnerships between organizations.

Tuesday, October 13, 12-1pm: When the Budget Meets Reality
Most budgeting sessions cover how to build one. This is about what happens next. Plans change, funding moves, and the budget you approved in the spring rarely survives the fall intact. We will work through reforecasting mid-year, keeping restricted funding straight, telling which variances actually matter, and making sure a balanced budget does not turn into a cash problem. The focus is on the calls that come with all of that and how to explain them to the people who need to hear them. Best suited for people who already have the basics and want to go deeper.

Wednesday, October 21, 11am-12pm: Making the Connection: Building Lasting Relationships with Policymakers
Building relationships with elected officials and policymakers is an important step toward growing an organization’s impact, but it can also feel intimidating and inaccessible. Join the Roundtable for this panel on making and maintaining connections between organizations and policymakers that can further your mission and support the communities you serve. Panelists representing stakeholders at multiple intersections of these relationships will share their experiences and advice in this discussion moderated by Roundtable Executive Director Kimberly Olsen.
