The NYC Arts in Education Roundtable is excited to kick off 2025 in conversation with NYC Public Schools’ Arts Office.

Roundtable Members are invited to join us IN-PERSON at the Park Avenue Armory to connect in conversation with Arts Office leadership on strategic priorities, upcoming initiatives, as well as the rollout of their guiding logic model and its impact on cultural partnerships.

The program will begin with a brief presentation and Q&A with Paul Thompson (Executive Director). Participants will then break out into groups with NYCPS’ city-wide Arts Directors Liz Guglielmo (Music), Peter Avery (Theatre), Shirlene Blake (Dance), and other members of the Arts Office leadership. These breakout groups will focus on building and strengthening partner relationships in arts education and finding avenues for synergy as it relates to the Arts Office’s wider vision of arts in NYC schools.

Participants will have the opportunity to pose questions in advance. Light refreshments will be provided.

Please note: Due to limited capacity, this event is currently open to members of the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable and is limited to no more than two attendees per organization. Individual members may only reserve one spot for themselves. You must log-in to your Roundtable account before registering for this event. Please don’t hesitate to contact Programs Director Kinsey Keck with any questions (kkeck@nycaieroundtable.org).

About NYC Public Schools’ Arts Office

The mission of the Arts Office  is to support the arts aspirations of all New York City Public Schools students and to ensure that we are continuously expanding our reach in support of all schools, especially those that have not historically received direct support from our office. We do this by (a) supporting principals to incorporate the arts into schools’ core instructional mission and school wide SEL practices, and (b) building teachers’ knowledge and capacity around effective pedagogical practices based on the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts.

About the Park Avenue Armory

Park Avenue Armory fills a critical void in the cultural ecology of New York by enabling artists to create, students to explore, and audiences to experience unconventional work that cannot be mounted in traditional performance halls and museums. The Armory’s creativity-based arts education programs provide free access to the arts to thousands of students from underserved New York City public schools through its wide range of performances and Teaching Artist led workshops, customized residencies that support curriculum, and Youth Corps, the Armory’s paid and closely mentored internship program, which begins in high school and continues into the post-high school years.

Accessibility

The NYC Arts in Education Roundtable is committed to making our programming accessible and inclusive for all community members. The Park Avenue Armory is an ADA-compliant and wheelchair-accessible venue. For individuals requiring assisted access, a sidewalk-level entrance is available at 103 East 66th Street, located just east of Park Avenue. If you have any other access requests for this event or would like to let us know of other ways we can provide you with a more welcoming experience, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for directing all communication to our Programs Director, Kinsey Keck, at kkeck@nycaieroundtable.org.
