Got questions about offering CTLE credit with your programs? Join the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable for this working group on the Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) sponsor application process.
Throughout the Roundtable’s monthly Arts Education Leaders’ Open Space, many attendees have reported questions around the pros and cons of offering CTLE credit, and what the process and timeline is for becoming a CTLE sponsor. To that end, we’ve decided to hold this working group open space dedicated to all things CTLE.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions and any specific issues they are coming up against in their CTLE journeys.
WHAT IS CTLE credit?
Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) credits are a requirement for teachers and school leaders in New York State who have a professional certificate. CTLE credits are used to promote professionalization in teaching and educational leadership.
Educators who hold one or more of the following certificates are subject to the continuing teacher and leader education (CTLE) requirement:
- Professional certificate in the classroom teaching service
- Professional certificate in the educational leadership service (i.e., School Building Leader, School District Leader, and School District Business Leader)
- Teaching Assistant Level III certificate
By becoming a CTLE sponsor, you are able to offer credit hours to educators attending your programs for teachers and school leaders in New York State.
