NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Arts in Education Roundtable is pleased to announce the election of a new Vice Chair to the Board of Directors: David King.
Board Co-Chair Gary Padmore welcomes newly elected Vice Chair, “David King has been a wonderful arts leader and colleague. His contributions to the Roundtable community have been proven to be transformative for our field, and we’re excited to experience what’s in store with his joining the Executive team!”

About David King

David King is a nonprofit leader with over 15 years of management experience and over a decade of artistic direction in New York City’s cultural sector. He is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, facilitator, and administrator committed to cultural equity, creative storytelling, and youth development. He is a passionate advocate for investment in the arts and education. His purpose is rooted in connecting people with resources and opportunities for learning, artistic expression, and civic engagement. His interests lie in social infrastructure frameworks at large. He takes a keen interest in methodologies for accessible, culturally competent programming and strategic visioning.
He is the Director of Education at The Apollo and the former Program Director of School & Community Partnerships at Community-Word Project (CWP). He is the Board Vice-Chair and Advocacy Committee Co-Chair at the New York City Arts in Education Roundtable. He is a National Advisory Board member of Imagining America. He is a working group member of Culture@3—a space for leaders of NYC’s cultural institutions to connect and share resources and support.
He has served as a panelist for The 2025 Rainin Arts Fellowship administered by United States Artists, a reader for the 2024 A.R.T./New York Creative Opportunity Fund (NYSCA), a jurist for the 2024 LMCC Creative Learning program, and a recurring panelist for the NYC DCLA Cultural Development Fund.
David is an alum of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) 2024 Incubator for Executive Leaders of Color. He was a member of Dance/NYC’s 2023-24 Dance. Workforce. Resilience. (DWR) Initiative Advisory Group. He is a 2019 Innovative Cultural Advocacy Fellow with The Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI) and Co-founder of The Seven Collective, a former NYC-based theatre company and artist collective. He earned a B.A. in Theatre from The City College of New York (CUNY) and appreciates those who contribute to the process.

We are a community of organizations and individuals that shares information, provides professional development, and communicates with the public to promote our work in schools and beyond. Founded in 1992, the Roundtable produces a major annual conference, Face to Face; monthly professional development programs; a destination website; and other activities, in addition to ongoing advocacy and communications efforts for thousands of individuals and member organizations.
