Camp Dunnabeck


Job Description:

Founded in 1955, Camp Dunnabeck is the oldest residential program of its kind. Camp Dunnabeck is an academic summer camp for students with dyslexia and language-based learning differences. We accept students of average to above-average intelligence. Camp runs for 6-weeks, from the last week in June through the first week in August, every summer. Our camp is for boys and girls, ages 8 to 16 years old. Boarding is available, as well as day camper options.


We now have an opening for a Theater Instructor, which integrates the performing arts as an activity culminating in a short production at the end of the camp.  This is an exciting position for someone who is passionate about bringing performing arts and arts education to our community as part of a strong, collaborative inter-disciplinary organization.


The Theater Instructor is responsible for planning and teaching theater classes for our Summer Camp program. The Theater Instructor is also responsible for assisting with the creation of the culminating performance and the general supervision of participants during classes and related activities. The Theater Instructor will work with the team of tutors and instructors and must be a caring individual with strong skills working with diverse populations.



The Theater Instructor will possess a combination of drama and education programming skills. S/he will be energetic, organized and self-motivated, and will also be very creative and thoughtful in the development and oversight of drama-related educational programming. S/he must have great communication and team-building skills. Relevant experience working with children in drama, musical theatre or related field required. The position is Monday through Friday with multiple sessions each day.  Accommodations on campus will be provided with some meals included.  Wednesday, June 26th is orientation, when you will have time to set up your workspace. The camp begins on Saturday, June 29th and commences on Saturday, August 10th.
