SEEKING SUMMER TEACHING ARTISTS FOR BRONX PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM- TEACHERS/MUSICAL DIRECTORS AND CHOREOGRAPHERS

The Riverdale Children’s Theatre is seeking positions for our Summer Lights Summer Performing Arts program in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.  Summer Lights immerses students from Grades 2-9 in the world of musical theatre and combines professional theatre training and performing arts enrichment with classic summer fun, culminating in fully produced stage productions.
These are six-week positions. Monday- Friday from 8am – 5pm from July 1st. through August 10th. Salary is competitive. Available for pre program training and set- up the week of June 27-June 30th. Applicants must be enthusiastic, creative, industrious, responsible, punctual, and resourceful and have a genuine love for children. Should have BA or BFA in musical theatre or dance or music.

Musical Director

Seeking a  Musical Director for our summer production of Disney’s Finding Nemo Jr pilot.

6 week position for July 1st- August 9th. Approximately 30 hours per week. Salary is Competitive. Other duties will include assisting with voice lessons and end of summer Cabaret. July 1st -August 9th

Dance Instructor/Choreographer

Seeking a  Dance instructor/choreographer  for our summer performing arts camp.

6 week position for July 1st- August 9th. Approximately 30 hours per week. Salary is Competitive. July 1st -August 9th

Assistant Program Director

Time commitment-Available for pre program training and set- up on Thursday June 27th- Sunday June 30th.. Work hours are 8:00am -5pm pm Monday Friday from July 1st -August 10th. There will be approximately 8 late days for Broadway shows and Performances. Sunday August 4th will be an additional day of work.

Artistic Duties

  • Choreographing one summer show or teaching middle school scene study class
  • Ability to assist in directing or choreography for all levels

Admin and Daily Duties

  • Oversee the daily operation of the program
  • Lead group warm-ups in am with full camp
  • Oversee -all Counselors and teaching Artists
  • Make sure each day at camp is running smoothly
  • In collaboration with Director Create Daily and Weekly Schedules
  • Make weekly Voice Lesson Schedules.
  • Responsible for Communication to families

Should have BA or BFA in education, music or theatre and experience with directing youth and/or choreography. Salary is Competitive

Head Teacher
Head Teacher for a group of 40  11-14 year olds.  Must be at least 22 years of age.  Directs children in a manner that promotes safe behaviors and improves the quality of the children’s interaction with one another, social skills and self-esteem.  Serves as a role model to young children by demonstrating high standards of personal conduct.  Responsible for the safety of campers at all times.  Is attentive and follows all administrative notices defining procedures and routines.  Leads all activities with their group, making every day fun for cast members, teaching skills, providing encouragement and support, etc.  Plans curriculum and activities for group.  Supervises one assistant counselor and two interns who will be assisting with your group. Ability to teach tap class or acting class a plus. Should have BA or BFA in education, music or theatre and experience with directing youth and/or choreography.
