BEAT Rockers-A beatboxing and music self-expression program for students who are blind and have multiple disabilities. We are now developing lesson plans that feature beatboxing as a tool for speech therapy
BEAT Breakers/Breakers for Health- Bboy or Breakin’ program that teaches the dance but also the rich social history of this unique NYC born art form
BEAT Explorers- Creative writing, music production, and public performance program.
BEAT Global Studio- A small open artist studio for rehearsals, practices, and workshops
BEAT Teach the Teacher- Training program for aspiring artist who wants to become teachers
The Program Director will be a thought partner to the Executive Director and Administrative Team of BEAT Global. An ideal candidate should be able to think both broadly and strategically about our work. He/She should be detail oriented and organized about the implementation and structures necessary to move our vision into reality. The Program Director will serve as the day-to-day operational and programmatic leader to all internal staff. You will provide leadership and support in order to manage structural program development and resource management for all of BEAT Global programming. You will serve as the liaison between teaching artists, school administrative staff and other partners of BEAT Global.
Program Design and Development includes site placement of instructors with the appropriate skill set to meet the needs of the individual sites, goal setting and securing the equipment needed to support instructors to complete their goals.
Review and assess current programs and design strategies on how to build them up to capacity.
Coordinate outreach, enrollment, and linkages for activities with subcontractors and cultural institutions.
Work with Executive Director for visioning and implementation of BEAT goals and mission.
Develop, implement and evaluate recruitment strategies to expand the number of teaching artists
Oversee and supervise program staff and teaching artists/studio manager/trainees/Interns
Manage and ensure all instructors turn in all necessary paperwork before they begin working at a site, as well as knowing what paperwork is needed for each site/program.
Coordinate staff development and conduct staff assessments.
Conduct monthly check-in meetings with teaching artists (via phone, Skype/Google hangout)
Ensure classroom assessments (PAR)/check-ins are completed regularly during a semester.
Review teaching artists PAR reports and assess how BEAT can support or improve the classroom/studio experience.
Lead and facilitate weekly in-office meetings with Executive Director and Administrative team
Enforce BEAT Global’s Accountability policy with staff when needed with adequate documentation and follow up.
Provide professional support and coaching to program staff and teaching artists.
Acting liaison between instructors, administrative staff, and site staff in establishing clear communication, expectations and overall support.
Gain in-depth knowledge of our network of comprehensive programs, fully understand the scope and breadth of all our work by attending classes and communicating with instructors, students, and school staff.
Interface with teaching artists and program partners through networking/mixer nights, office visits, telephone calls and follow-up referrals as necessary.
Proposal, MOU & Grant Writing
Work closely with the ED, administrative staff and teaching artists to gather the necessary information to ensure proposals and reports are comprehensive and compelling to report back to the Executive Director.
Creating Proposals for potential partners and MOU’s when programming is confirmed.
Support in researching and applying for grants that are appropriate for our programs.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED + SALARY:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work or relevant field
Five years of applicable experience.
$50K – $60K commensurate with experience. Full-time position.
Office hours: Monday through Friday 10 am – 6 pm
