POSITION: Development Associate
LOCATION: New York
A member of the Film Society’s Development team, the Development Associate reports to the Assistant Director of Development and works collaboratively with other staff members to enhance Individual Giving. The Associate oversees a diverse portfolio of Patrons, implementing solicitation strategies (phone, email, and in person) for Patron renewal and upgrades. This position assists with administration and implementation of the Patron and Membership programs and involves various aspects of stewardship, solicitation, direct mail, fulfillment, event planning and coordination, and donor recognition. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Manages a pre-selected portfolio of entry level Patrons ($1,000-4,999), soliciting gifts and upgrades through phone calls and in person meetings. Implements donor growth management strategy with a focus on increased stewardship.
Tracks annual Patron Program’s progress, comparing YTD income to quarterly and yearly goals. Manages weekly internal Patron meetings.
Plans and supervises outward and inward facing correspondence, including answering the Patron phone line and Patron email address. Assists with Member phone line and Member email address as needed.
Collaborates with the Membership Manager to design upgrade strategies for Members, assisting in stewarding Members to become Patrons.
Supports management of New Wave program, including event planning and prospect solicitation.
Acts as point person for LCCF benefits coordination.
Conducts and presents prospect research for acquisition, focused on giving level and capacity incongruence. Updates constituent records in donor database.
Fulfills all Patron ticketing needs and tracks RSVPs for various fundraising and cultivation events.
Manages relationship with LCPA’s Patron Desk, including necessary ticketing to fulfill obligation to LCPA.
Manages Patron service issues, focusing on quick and thorough resolution.
Festival, Galas, and other Special Events:
Works with Assistant Director of Development to plan for Patron benefits fulfillment, including pre-sale periods and special event invitations.
Manages RSVP lists for donor events, including Patron Evenings and special events. Provides on-site support for Patron evenings and other special events including check-in and seating processes.
Greets Patrons and Members at New York Film Festival Member and Patron desks.
Collaborates with Special Events to oversee New Wave and Member events including Oscar Night Fundraiser, Food & Film, and other events.
Assists in managing Patron and Member event and festival experience through on-site hospitality.
Assists with all daily correspondence via Gala and NYFF ticketing email account and phone line throughout pre-sales and sales period.
Trains and supervises volunteers for mailings and special events.
Provides general administrative support, and performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
1-2 years successful Development experience, preferably in a not-for-profit arts organization.
Proven ability to work with donors and members, handle confidential information, and exercise discretion.
Passion for the mission of the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Comfort soliciting donations by phone and in person.
Phone solicitation experience preferred.
Available for night and weekend events.
Familiarity with development database, preferably Tessitura, and email software systems, preferably Wordfly.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, anticipate challenges, solve problems, and work under pressure.
Sense of humor a must.
