Bradley McCallum is a visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York, and working in Greenfield, Massachusetts, until summer 2018. McCallum Studio is seeking an Adept photo-based figurative Painting Assistant, with digital image expertise, and a Digital Media Intern to join the team. The position(s) offer aspiring artists great insights into socially-engaged practice and diverse opportunities for professional growth. The focus of the project is to work with the video footage and still images of conflict journalist James Foley. Foley was taken hostage by ISIS and publicly executed. The project aims to reframe this tragic story and pay tribute to the images Foley captured on assignment in Libya and Syria. His archive is the basis for the artists attempt to see international conflict through Foley’s eyes and the creation of a series of new images, executed in oil painting. Thus McCallum is working closely with the Foley family and their foundation to produce an aesthetic project that responds to his legacy.
