Bradley McCallum is a visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York, and working in Greenfield, Massachusetts, until summer 2018. McCallum Studio is seeking an Adept photo-based figurative Painting Assistant, with digital image expertise, and a Digital Media Intern to join the team. The position(s) offer aspiring artists great insights into socially-engaged practice and diverse opportunities for professional growth. The focus of the project is to work with the video footage and still images of conflict journalist James Foley. Foley was taken hostage by ISIS and publicly executed. The project aims to reframe this tragic story and pay tribute to the images Foley captured on assignment in Libya and Syria. His archive is the basis for the artists attempt to see international conflict through Foley’s eyes and the creation of a series of new images, executed in oil painting. Thus McCallum is working closely with the Foley family and their foundation to produce an aesthetic project that responds to his legacy.

Position 1: Photo-based Figurative Painting Assistant with experience in working with Digital Images Primary duties: To work closely with the artist to produce a new series of large-scale oil paintings based on video (stills) and photographic images. Requirements: *Painters and Illustrators with photo-realistic experience in oil are required, strong drawing, and anatomy skills are essential *Familiarity with photoshop and video editing software *Some previous experience in working with an artist, as a painting assistant or lead painter *Willingness to learn and follow directions *Excellent communication skills *Experienced at collaborating/sharing ideas, and team work *Positive energy and respectful attitude *Versatile: able to work in a home/study environment *Strong work ethic *Reliable Requested Availability: This is a full time assistant 30-40 hrs per week position. Standard studio hours are 10-6pm. Paid Position: Hourly pay based on experience

Position 2: Digital Media Intern Our interns gain exposure to all facets of creating interdisciplinary art projects. Independent projects are subject to the intern’s area(s) of interest and skill set. Primary duties: Photo and video editing, research, production, content development, installation, press/mailings, social media outreach. Requirements: *Proficiency with Mac OS, Video Editing Software (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and/or Avid Media Composer) and Microsoft Office. *Familiarity with Color Grading, Sound Editing, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe After Effects. *Upper class student or Graduate student in a related field is preferred *Highly motivated, organized, proactive *Excellent communication skills *Interest in social and political issues Compensation: Internships are available for school credit. We happily coordinate with accredited academic institutions to serve as an Internship Sponsor. We also provide a weekly stipend. Requested availability: 16-20 hours per week. Standard studio hours are 10-6pm.
